Croatian Wine “Old World – Newly discovered”

Croatia has been producing quality wine for thousands of years, since Roman times, but it is only recently that wines from Croatia have been imported into the UK. Now, Croatian Fine Wines can deliver next day to trade and retail customers, still white and red wines from Franc Arman, Pilato, Kabola (EKO organic certified) and Ice and Sweet wines from Decanter Award Winner Bodren.

Taste Croatian wine varieties

Try out indigenous varieties like the floral dry white wine Malvazija Istarska, and the full bodied, dry and robust Teran with wild berry flavours as well as more familiar wines such as Sivi Pinot (Grey), Pinot Bijeli (White), Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Bodren’s Ice Wines are a tasting revelation with such a huge intensity and depth of flavours that they are considered a ‘philosophical’ wine by many.

Low Sulphites Wines

Many of our Croatian wines have very low Total SO2 (sulphites) levels (we publish levels for our wines) and can be enjoyed by people who have an allergic reaction to drinking wines.

All our wines are analysed by Croatian Centre for Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs www.hcphs.hr and are certified as either Quality Wines (Kvalitetno) or Supreme Quality (Vrhunsko) Wines.

Croatian wines delivered next day

Order Croatian wines from our Wine List below for your next social gathering, wine society event or simply for your own personal enjoyment, with next day FedEx delivery.

We also look forward to working closely with on and off trade businesses who want to offer their customers the Croatian wine experience.

Debit and Credit cards accepted.

If you have any questions about our Croatian wines, please don't hesitate to contact James B Waddell on +44 (0) 7711 33 99 13.

Franc Arman Merlot 2008

Franc Arman Merlot 2008 (Vrhunsko)
Vol. 750ml  ABV 13.5% Total SO2 40mg/l

The first Vintage and a supreme quality wine.

"This merlot has an extremely distinctive and deep ruby colour with mild purple reflections. It is exiting even when one just looks at it.

In a still glass, at first this wine has an aroma of raspberry and black currant, typical of merlot. When the glass is rotated the wine releases an array of other different aromas: wood seasonings and spices.

Wood in this merlot is balanced so it is not prevailing. Consequently, at the second sniff, one smells the aroma of cedar as well as of plenty of berry fruits. By sitting in a glass the wine decants itself, and thus opens up and becomes more and more attractive on the nose.

The taste will only reconfirm this distinctive aroma. Its retro-nasal taste is extremely strong, harmonic and long-lasting. Mineralisation of this wine is interesting, which is due to the soil where it grows. Its freshness also comes from the combination of red and white soil. The merlot “educated” in this manner has a good potential for aging and it is gastronomically adaptable to many culinary dishes.

Tasting notes by Sandi Paris (Champion Sommelier from Pula, Istria). Croatian available on request.
