The Business

Croatian Fine Wines Limited was incorporated in January 2011 in Swansea. Subsequently, in October 2013, it was brought to Winnington Hall, Northwich, Cheshire. In November 2023, Croatian Fine Wines became a brand of Novel Wines and is now run by their passionate team, from their HQ in Bath.

The Vision

For Croatian wines to be widely recognised for their quality, value, winegrowing integrity and taste. 

Importers of Croatian Fine Wines

The company name was chosen to describe what we do. Simply put, we stock the largest selection of Croatian wines in the UK.

We are the sole UK importers of Croatian wine for most of our suppliers. Originally, we focussed on Croatian wines from award winning wine producers from the Istrian Peninsular. This region is recognised as a premium wine region of Croatia. However, we have significantly expanded our range of Croatian wines. Therefore, we now stock wines from Dalmatia, the Croatian Uplands and the Slavonia and Danube wine regions. Furthermore, we also now stock wines from Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Quality of Croatian Wine

Most importantly, our choice of wines to import is governed by quality and provenance. Therefore we import wines from regionally and nationally recognised wine producers. Most have vineyards of around 20 hectares or less. All our producers are registered with the appropriate government bodies and hold wine export licences. Additionally, before any wine is brought to the UK by us, we require a valid wine analysis certificate and wine quality rating from the EU approved analysis laboratories. Each wine bottle also has its own serial number label which is usually placed on the top of the bottle foil for traceability. 

Suppliers to Marks & Spencer (M&S)

In 2012, Croatian Fine Wines supplied Pilato Malvazija Istarska 2011 to Marks & Spencer for their new Eastern Mediterranean wine range. Therefore, we had to satisfy extensive due diligence research of the wine production methods used by Pilato, along with an on site inspection, which we passed with flying colours.

Low Sulphite Wines

We publish the analysis information for each wine on our website, including the Total SO2 and Free SO2 levels to show that many of our wines are low sulphite wines.

Wines suitable for Vegans and Organic wines

Many of our wines are suitable for Vegans. Therefore all our wines are identified as to whether they are suitable for Vegans.

One of our producers, Kabola, was the first EKO Certified Organic producer in Istria. Subsequently they obtained their European Union Organic certification.
