Vinistra a world class wine festival

For the past 21 years, within the first two weeks of May, the Vinistra wine festival takes place in the historic coastal town of Poreč, of the Istrian peninsular. Vinistra is a focal point on the Istrian wine producer and consumer calendar and a must attend event. It presents an opportunity for local wine producers to enter their best vintages into the VInistra wine competition and for trade customers and wine loving consumers to meet up directly with the wine makers and taste their creations.

The results for Vinistra 2014 were published, as always, in advance of the event which was held at Poreč’s huge Basketball Sports Centre Žatika over the weekend of 9 to 11 May 2014. The venue is perfect, with a vast open space sports hall with exhibition stands from all the famous Istrian wine producers and many others that aspire to join them.

Croatia’s EU Accession and Real Estate Investments

Wednesday, 27 March 2013 13:49:55 Europe/London

A glass of Cold Favorit Istrian beer by the pool at Villa Olivia in Istria

The pleasures of Croatian real estate: A glass of cold Favorit Istrian beer by the pool in the afternoon...

Legal update for Investors in Croatian Real Estate

The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in association with CMS Zagreb will be giving a presentation on Croatia and EU Legislation and in particular one of the topics will be:

How will Croatian accession to EU change real estate investments in Croatia?"  Good question!

If you invested in the residential property market in Croatia after 2007, buying an apartment or villa for rental to tourists, it is very likely that you were caught-up in what became known as the ‘Categorisation Issue’, which made it extremely difficult if not impossible for foreign nationals who owned property in Croatia to obtain a tourist rental licence for their property.

Croatian nationals who own property in Croatia as a private citizen are not subject to the same conditions.

So this presentation will be a useful opportunity for foreign nationals still ensnared by the Categorisation Issue to find out if Croatia joining the EU changes anything and levels the playing field as is hoped by many foreign investors.

Croatian Art at the Heart of UK Culture and History

Friday, 8 March 2013 21:39:58 Europe/London

‘Mapping Croatia in United Kingdom Collections’

It may surprise you to learn that Croatian artwork can be found in prominent display across the major art galleries and museums of the UK and even in the seat of government at the House of Commons.

Flora Turner-Vučetić launched her attractive information booklet ‘Mapping Croatia in United Kingdom Collections’ at the Wallace Collection in London on 25 February 2013 at the evening of the ‘Croatian Bishop Josip Jurah Strossmayer’ seminar. The colour publication systematically lists by venue, such as the National Gallery or the British Museum, the name of the Croatian artist and their artworks that can be found there. A few taster pictures of paintings, metal work, posters and textiles are included in the 32 page clearly laid out catalogue of Croatian artwork that can be easily viewed in the UK. You can down load a free copy of 'Mapping Croatia in United Kingdom Collections', which is jointly published by Welcome Croatia 2013 (to the EU) and the British Croatian Society UK.
